When I first arrived at Salford 11 years ago everyone was on holiday. It was just before Christmas and Denise and Roland came in especially to welcome me. I remember them both appearing at the end of the corridor in Old Adelphi. Denise was beaming and she threw her arms open so wide that they almost touched the walls.
